The Inspiration
Palace On Wheels The concept of the train was influenced by royal background of the coaches. These coaches were basically meant to be personal Railway coaches of erstwhile rulers of princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, Nizam of Hyderabad and Viceroy in British period.

The Eatery
Two lavish restaurants "The Maharajah" and "The Maharani" of The Palace on Wheels serve you with a Rajasthani ambiance serving mouth watering Continental, Chinese, Indian and Rajasthani cuisine. A well stocked bar in the train offers the choicest of spirits of Indian and international brands. You also can avail a wide collection of books to choose from.

The Extravagance
This luxury train is regularly refurbished to a great extent. The decoration in the salons and bar lounge has been changed, while keeping in mind the traditionally aesthetic yet modern, Palace-On-Wheels. All the toilets have been redone and maintained neat and clean. A colour television and a CD player has been provided in each salon lounge.

Exploring Rajasthan by Palace On Wheels is going to be an unique experience. While on the train, you'll feel like an erstwhile king, who is travelling in majestic grandeur. That's why each coach of the train has been named after the erstwhile princely state. Each coach of Palace On Wheel has 4 twin-bedded chambers, thoughtfully embellished in ethnic Rajasthani style. These coaches are well equipped with channel music, intercom, attached toilets, running hot and cold water, shower and wall-to-wall carpeting. These facilities will make you feel at home. Personal attendants or Khidmatgars are there for you to serve you in each salon. These suave attendants are on their toes to serve you in the best possible manner, should you need anything.
