The Inspiration
Royal Orient Royal Orient, one of the most lavish, luxurious and prestigious trains in the world, was developed on the lines of famous Palace On wheels. It was started as a joint effort between Tourist Corporation of Gujarat Limited and Indian railways during 1994-95. The coaches being used for Royal Orient were, in fact, the replacement rake for the aging Palace on Wheels rolling stock but this new replacement rake was rendered useless due to some reasons. Gujarat Tourism and Indian Railways then decided to run it as Royal Orient.

The Eatery
Two restaurant cars are attached to Royal Orient, serving you delicious and exotic traditional Gujarati, Rajasthani, Indian, Continental and Chinese delicacies. The breakfast is served in the lounge or in the cabin. Menu of the pantry includes vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian cuisine along with hot and cold beverages. 'The Watering Hole' Bar is an added attraction and well stocked with varieties of scotch, Indian malt whiskeys, liquors, rums, wines and vodkas. Beer can also be served in the cabins or restaurant.
